French actress and comedienne Madeleine Renaud (1900-1994) enters the Comédie Française at the age of 21. In 1936, she meets the actor Jean-Louis Barrault, whom she subsequently will marry. Together, they collaborate in the creation and the direction of Soulier de satin by Paul Claudel. After numerous roles, Madeleine Renaud will leave the Comédie Française to form, again with her husband, the theatre company Renaud-Barrault. She dies in Paris in 1994, a few months after the death of Jean-Louis Barrault.
